CatsMed publishes clear cat health information for owners. We cover only cats, so every guide can go deeper than a general pet site. Here’s a little about CatsMed, why it exists and how we work.
Why we started CatsMed
When a cat is unwell, the first question is usually “is this an emergency, or can it wait?” The answer is often buried in long articles written for dogs and cats at once, or in forums full of guesses. CatsMed puts the answer first: what a sign usually means, how urgent it is, when to go to a vet now, and what a visit is likely to cost.
What you’ll find here
- Guides on symptoms, conditions, costs, medications, care and what’s toxic to cats. Each one starts with a short quick answer and puts emergency signs near the top.
- Free tools, from a “Should I go to the vet?” check and a breathing rate counter to photo scanners for plants, foods and the litter box, and calculators for food, water, age and costs.
- A vet directory of clinics in 49 US cities, with 24-hour and emergency clinics listed first, then cat-only practices.
How we work
The CatsMed Team researches every guide from veterinary sources, such as the Cornell Feline Health Center, AAFP, International Cat Care, the Merck Veterinary Manual and ASPCA Animal Poison Control, and lists those sources on each page with links where the source is online.
Our guides aren’t reviewed by a veterinarian, and we say so on every page. They help you understand what you’re seeing and decide how fast to act, but only a vet who examines your cat can diagnose and treat it. We never give medicine doses. How we research · Editorial policy

How we make money
CatsMed is free to read, and nothing is behind a sign-up. Today we don’t use affiliate links or ads. In the future we may earn commissions from clearly labeled partner links, such as pet insurance or online vet services.
