This privacy policy explains what information CatsMed collects, why, and what we do with it. We collect as little as we can.
What personal information we collect
- Basic server data. Our site runs on Cloudflare. Like any website, it receives your IP address and browser details when you load a page. We use this only to deliver the site, keep it secure and stop abuse (for example, rate-limiting the photo scanners).
- Analytics. We may use privacy-friendly analytics, such as Cloudflare Web Analytics, to see which pages are useful. It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t identify you.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe, we store your email address with our email provider to send you the newsletter. You can unsubscribe from any email at any time.
- Messages. If you email us, we keep your message and email address to reply.
What stays on your device
- Photos you scan. When you use a photo scanner (plant, food, cat breed, symptom or poop checker), the photo is resized on your device and sent to our server. Cloudflare Workers AI matches it against our own lists, and the photo is then discarded. We never store, log or share your photos, don’t link them to you, and don’t use them to train AI models.
- “Use my location.” On the vet directory, your location is used only in your browser to find the nearest city we cover. It’s never sent to us.
- Saved readings. Tools that let you save results, like the breathing rate log, store them only in your browser. Clearing your browser data deletes them.
Cookies and partner links
We don’t use advertising cookies. If we add partner links in the future (such as pet insurance or online vet services), the partner may set a cookie when you click one, to track the referral. See our affiliate disclosure.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t share it except with the service providers that run the site and newsletter for us, or when the law requires it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email us and we’ll reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the GDPR may give you further rights.
Children
CatsMed is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We’ll update this page if our practices change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
