Our editorial policy sets out how CatsMed chooses, writes and checks every article.
What we publish
We publish practical, accurate information about cat health for owners. We don’t diagnose individual cats, and nothing on CatsMed replaces an exam by your own veterinarian.
Our editorial standards
- Veterinary sources. We base articles on veterinary references such as the Cornell Feline Health Center, AAFP and AAHA guidelines, International Cat Care and the Merck Veterinary Manual, plus peer-reviewed research.
- Honest about review. Our guides are written by the CatsMed Team from the sources above. They aren’t reviewed by a veterinarian, and we say so. See how we research.
- No dosing advice. We explain what medications are for and what side effects to watch for, but we never give doses. Your vet sets the dose for your cat.
- Clear urgency. When a sign can be an emergency, we say so at the top of the page.
- Dates on everything. Every article shows when it was last checked, and we update pages when guidance changes.
- Prices are estimates. Cost figures are typical US ranges, and each cost page tells you to ask your clinic for an itemized estimate.
